Happy Victoria Day Long Weekend!

This weekend marks the first long weekend of the Summer in Canada. It is known as “Victoria Day”, in honour Queen Victoria’s birthday who was born on May 24th, 1819 who was the first sovereign of a confederated Canada. That’s when all the provinces and territories (except for Newfoundland) got together and formed the nation of Canada.

Victoria Day is traditionally celebrated in Canada by going to a cottage and being drunk for 3 days. In lieu of a cottage there is also “the BBQ party”, or just any party. Sometimes there are also fireworks.

It is a long weekend, and around here it is usually spring cleaning weekend and planting flowers weekend. The weather is so-so right now, looks like it will rain later this afternoon so the outdoor flower planting may get up on hold.

Have a great safe weekend.
