Garden Re-Design Research

Ok…we are approaching another decent weekend. I have been combing the net in search of some inspiration for how I want to redesign my garden. We’ll see what happens, but it will happen very soon.

I plan to cut, dethatch and fertilize my lawn this weekend. What is great about the dethatching is that I will have a nice supply of dried grass to drop into my compost and garden for more soil amendment. I’m pretty excited about that.

Congratulations David Cook!

OK, Congrats to COOK. He’s talented. I am not surprised at all.
But, I would have been proud of him more if his victory came clearer than this. Just hours before the finale, Simon went around on EVERY national TV shows endorsing Cook. It’s impossible for DA to win.
He has been rooting for Cook to win for weeks and in a sudden turn against him on Tuesday night? Too transparent! He just gave DA the kiss of death. Simon Cowell is a businessman who is very strategic. He knows how to manipulate the votes to get his favorite win. He did the exact same thing to get Leona Lewis win in the UK.
Nothing against Cook. He deserves it not less than Archie, but it just that the help from the judge and producers make it less appreciative.

American Idol - Top 2 - My Thoughts…

Well, tonight is the night that we get to hear the cheesy winner’s song debuted. I wonder if they both will have the same song this year or if they each get their own. Hopefully the latter.
To be honest, I don’t really care who wins. It is my thought that David Cook would do better if he didn’t win. I think he might have a little more creative control. I also think that Archuleta needs to win to do well, I don’t know that he has as much pull as Clay Aiken did as runner-up. We will see tomorrow won’t we?So who will you vote for? Who will America idolize this time around? Only time will tell.

Iron Man

I finally got to see Iron Man last night. And it surprised me how good the movie was for several different reasons. One, it was really funny. I thought Robert Downey Jr was hilarious in his quest to create the Iron Man suit. He was somewhat the anti-hero. Sure it stretched bounds at times but who cares. Two, the movie creates a really good sense of jeopardy that seems to be missing from so many films. I loved it.

But what I found fascinating was the underlining social commentary about war and terrorism. This was the first movie that really painted the United States in a darker hue. We were the war mongers as much as anyone. Iron Man’s quest was against people from the United States. Even the terrorists were supplied by us. This movie would have been considered communist if created in the 50’s.

I loved that it really looked at the cost of war on humans. It essentially asks, “What are we doing?” The scenes with the refugee families being separated was strikingly deep. This movie really took the popcorn action flick and turned it on its ear.

I enjoyed the ride from the beginning all the way to the bonus scene that plays after the ending credits.

Happy Victoria Day Long Weekend!

This weekend marks the first long weekend of the Summer in Canada. It is known as “Victoria Day”, in honour Queen Victoria’s birthday who was born on May 24th, 1819 who was the first sovereign of a confederated Canada. That’s when all the provinces and territories (except for Newfoundland) got together and formed the nation of Canada.

Victoria Day is traditionally celebrated in Canada by going to a cottage and being drunk for 3 days. In lieu of a cottage there is also “the BBQ party”, or just any party. Sometimes there are also fireworks.

It is a long weekend, and around here it is usually spring cleaning weekend and planting flowers weekend. The weather is so-so right now, looks like it will rain later this afternoon so the outdoor flower planting may get up on hold.

Have a great safe weekend.

Don’t Like: Being Too Busy To Blog

Crazy busy.

This face says it all!

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person..When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.
